Everybody loves Goa - Grandeur of the Altars
The altars and consoles in each one of the church are a delight.
Above is the statue of the lady of dolores (pain) at Se cathedral. It had a mysterious element to the whole setup
This is the wing entrance of Se Cathedral, A solitary candle glowing in the foreground of two majestic altars.
An angled shot filled with grandeur of one of the altar at St. Catherine Chapel, the walls are adored with intricately made and painted ceramic tiles and colourful canvas decipting the cross with abuntant gold thrown in.
A collage of the Picture of Jesus christ and The lady of dolores adorned in the Se Cathedral.
Taken in the Bom Jesus Basilica this blue tile was embedded in one of the pillars of the Basilica. The contrasting colors of Blue, metal and beige was an instant pull

The most grandest of the altars, this three level altar is at the Bom Jesus basilica,
A very similar photograph was recently featured in the Incredible India ad campaign.

Everybody loves Goa - Chapels, Churches, Cathedrals
Old Goa - declared the world heriage site, it has numerous chapels ,churches and cathedrals. Every one of it is unique and leaves you spell bound. You can spend an entire day marvelling the architecture and the history it holds. Would be ideal to visit it in the monsoons.

(above) Holy Spirit Church, Panaji. Located in the heart of the city this is the local's church where i found a schedule for a Portugese service too. Traffic flows right in front of it and you have benches placed on the divider overlooking the church where you can spend some time looking at it. It looks better when its lit in the nights.

Everybody loves Goa - commercial tourism
GOA, the hippy haven of india. it beckons you.
a big beautiful village with numerous beautiful beaches and bunglows.
time in months is what you need to experience the magic of the entire stretch of Goa.It keeps calling you back
the flea market at anjuna beach opens every wednesday. the varied colored displays
the shop keepers wooing the tourists with the abuntant junk jewellery and accessories.
i was asked to luk at one of the display, i liked a bead chain, asked how much, 75 she said, no way i said, she insists, ask for 10, accepts! so " bargain is the mantra."
wit this experience i head to a diff shop and get two bead chains for 15 rs. good timepass!
looking at the sea?
numerous beach chairs dot the beach at Baga. and you need to pay to sit in there.
you sense a very casual feeling all around you. No one is in a hurry and everyone seems to be having a vacation, be it the tourists or the goans themselves. No matter to what extent it mite be exploited or commercialized, but still in there lingers, the aura of Goa that still needs to be discovered. You are what you want to be, to stand alone or get lost in the crowd. to drive the narrow lanes or walk along the shore. to read a book or to swim in the warm sea, to eat or meditate. to sleep or see the sun set. you live a life here.
Goa is split into north goa, south and old goa.
North goa has for ages been the most sought out destination which includes beaches
candolim, baga, calangute, anjuna and vagator.
old goa houses the churches which are declared to be a world heritage mounument.
South goa is more calmer and the beaches start from colva all the way to Palolem.

Mast Malabar - Beaches
Malabar is synonymous with beaches and it had quite different landscapes to offer. Had been to beaches -> Malpe, Kappad, Bekal, Payambalam, Muzhapilangad
The sea shore next to bekal fort, Kasargod, Was there early morning and the sea was wild .its not a beach though.
Malpe beach in udupi. The land beyond is St.Mary's ISland, Arrive early for a ferry trip to this island. A public beach where you find the localites gather.
This is one place we discovered as we were driving through the calicut- kannur highway. A left turn near a sign saying 'Art of Living ashram', you end up here where we found the ashram on the beach front and a small temple with a pond adjacent to it. Was serene and beautiful
this is one landscape above the bekal fort. Owing to monsoons, the grass was dense and green than how it used to be
Anyone's dream, to drive along the beach is answered at this beach near kannur, about 15 kms before the town is the Muzhapilangad beach where you see vehicles speeding along the sealine
this was the small temple we discovered
early morning rush at the bekal fort
Little boys enjoying a game of cricket early morning on a holiday
Malpe is near udupi 6 kms from the town
Bekal beach is like 10 kms from Kasargod
Payambalam is inside Kannur
Muzhapilangad is 15 kms from kannur towards Calicut and
Kappad is 10 kms from calicut towards kannur.

Mast Malabar - Forts
Had been on a trip along the malabar coast
itnenary being
udupi -> calicut -> cannanore -> kasargod
will be posting the pics as a series of forts, beaches and sunsets.
This one includes the forts
The red arched gateway to the fort
Thalassery fort, Thalassery
St.Angelo fort at the cannanore cantonment area is located by the sea. thats a construction worker at the end of the tunnel. The place was under restoration when i had been there.
this part of the fort is the Bekal fort in Kasargod. A majestic structure set along the coast.
The path that leads you to the top of the fort
St.Angelo fort, Cannanore.
caught a dragon flying over the bekal fort
The long cellars found in St.Angelo fort are captivating
The path that runs along the fort from where you get to see the entire stretch of the fort.
Yet another view of the cellars at St.Angelo fort
the cellars again
the path that leads you to the sea at St.Angelo fort
The keyhole that runs into the beach at Bekal fort, kasargod
St.Angelo fort is located in the cantonment area of Cannanore, its well inside the town. Bekal fort is bigger compared to St.Angelo, its located at about 10 kms from kasargod. Thalasery fort is very small compared suituated in the town, just drop by if your goin on the calicut- kannur highway. All are maintained by the archeological survey of india and are open from 8am to 6pm. but its pleasant to visit early mornings and during sunsets. Bekal fort can be explored through a narrow path right of the fort, incase you arrive early or late.
